Kai Thaws is a Bristol-based writer–director and photographer creating visually driven work across narrative film, photography, and commercial content. His practice is rooted in mood, character, and contemporary cinematic storytelling, often blending grounded emotion with bold visual craft to shape atmospheric, emotionally resonant narratives.

Alongside his own projects, Kai has gained valuable industry experience on high-level productions, including working within the AD department on the BBC production Death Valley. This insight into large-scale professional filmmaking has shaped his understanding of on-set collaboration, pacing, and the detail required to bring complex stories to life.

As an emerging filmmaker, Kai continues to build a distinct and ambitious creative identity. His work is defined by its intentional visual style, narrative focus, and ongoing commitment to crafting film and imagery that feel honest, immersive, and contemporary.
